Mmm Mmm Mmm who doesn’t love the smell of fresh pie? Well if you want to get a nose full I suggest you get down to Kissimmee Florida April 23-25th for the National Pie Championships. This is where home cooks, professional bakers and commercial pie companies compete to see who has the best pie. Don’t worry if you’re not in the mood for a little competition there’s always pie for you to sample. The competition will be taking place during The Great American Pie Festival so there will be a lot of things for you to see and do. So if you think you’re pie has what it takes to win the gold or you just want to dazzle your taste buds then check out the The Great American Pie Festival.
If you hadn’t noticed, there was a war between industry giants. A war that would determine the fate of one chocolate as we know it. OK maybe I blew it a little out of proportion, but as of Jan 25th Kraft is the last company standing in the bidding war for ownership of Cadbury who are known for their production of chocolate. So what does this mean for Kraft? More money of course! Kraft will now have quite the foot hold in the European markets and stands to make a good deal of money. For us in the U.S. it means we can probably expect to see Cadbury chocolate more then once a year.

A study by McDonald’s shows that when parents are given the nutritional facts for one of their restaurants, they tend to pick out healthier items for their children. This is great news because it seems that people are understanding the importance of healthy eating. Unfortunately, the study also showed that the same parents who chose healthier items for their kids ended up choosing less healthier menu items for themselves. That’s a shame, I hope those children don’t think that when they become adults they can throw nutrition to the wind and eat whatever they want because they’re emulating mommy and daddy do.
